7.entry: Hero within!

"Heroes take journeys, confront dragons, and discover the treasure of their true selves."

Dear people who are reading my blog!

I am back! I know it has been a while since I have posted, but I was covered up to my eye balls with work and studies. But you will be happy to hear that I passed both exams that I have taken in the past 2 weeks, so 1 more to go, and I will graduate form school of economics. Which immediately brings me to my second reason why I have been away: I am torn in what to do next. Literally I have no idea what I want to study after I am finished with bachelor or even where to study. On one hand I can always study here in Slovenia and then go for an exchange for a year, and on the other hand I want to go study abroad, maybe London or New York if the schools wouldn't be so damn expensive! So inside I am torn about my future, where I want to be in the next 5 years or so. I mean I would love to go abroad, but that means I would have to leave behind everything, my family and friends. If I am to come back one day, they will probably be still here but it wont be the same, like it was not after I came back from an exchange in Paris. Like I said in my previous blog entry: I guess we just need to adapt to changes and that what we get. Well Life, I am so ready!- throw everything you have my way and I will fight back. Because within everyone of us is a hero who will fight for its survival until the last breath.
So this will be today`s topic. In search of a hero who will save my, only to find there is a hero inside of me.

But firstly I would love to show you the song from this week`s Glee episode which describes my feelings to the point.
Basically it is a duet between the old and the new Rachel, and it is super common for young or older people to have dilemmas and that you are torn between opportunities.

And now lets begin a search for a hero that we so desperatelly need sometimes.
So what is hero by definition:

noun, plural he·roes;
1.a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
2.a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal: He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.
3.the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc.

We are familiar with a look of a hero from movies like Barman, Spiderman, X-man, The Green Lantern, Star Wars etc. Basically it is someone who does something for others and expects nothing in return.

We see them in all sorts of films and are always so inspired by their greatness and their strength. And we think, OK, so they only exist in films and stories, but I refuse to believe that. I truly believe every one of us can be a hero, for themselves and for others. Because to start helping others you have to first help yourself and take upon the responsibility to be the best you can be, for you and for the world around you.
If you want to be saved, well the only person who will save you is you! So it is up to you to be strong, decisive, ambitious, smart and most important of them all, you need to be confident in yourself.
Do you still not believe me that everyone of us is a hero?

Here are 10 steps on how to become one:
1. Take control of your own life and do what makes you happy
2. Grow stronger physically and mentally
3. Work on social abilities and learn to smile
4. Dress nice and look amazing everyday
5. Learn how to solve your own problems first
6. Help others when you see an opportunity, and expect nothing in return
7. Know your weaknesses and accept them- it your biggest strength
8. Learn how to appreciate and say thank you (take nothing for granted)
9. Take responsibility for your own actions
10. Admit when you are wrong and get better

Take this 10 steps to reach a new level of a "modern good person" and be your hero for a change! I am not saying this because it is cliche or because it sounds good. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! BE YOUR OWN HERO!

So even though sometimes I am complaining that life is hard and I don't have it easy. Well I overcame everything because I have learnt from my lessons and mistakes, and I will make new ones but that does not make you less strong or weak, just human. And even though sometimes I feel like I need somebody to help me on their own, it is really better to just ask for help (it is not a sign of weakness) and appreciate it.
So after all this can you still argue with me that there are no real life heroes. What is more heroic then be the best you can be for you and others. Let me tell you something; if we all strive to be better and to help each other on the way, I am truly confident that the world can be a better place. But like everything else it starts with(in) us. We are the ones who have to make the first step and then be the example for others so they will also try to be better.

With all my heart I am saying this to you: Be the hero you deserve to be, and the world deserves to have. Be good, be kind, be respectful, and people will see your strength and will accept you.

So I am finishing my article now. I hope I have inspired you to find hero within you.
Only you are responsible for your own actions, so make them remarkable and heroic.
